Throughout the research process, I have discovered many interesting facts regarding my topic. I realized that this type of intersectionality among women, such aspects including race and ethnic background, have been affecting the women's rights movement since the fight for women's suffrage. The part of my research that I have been struggling with the most is connecting the various essays within the New Humanities Reader to my actual topic. It is very easy to connect Leslie Bell's "Selections from Hard to Get," because that addresses women and sexuality directly. However, the other essay that I chose, Thurman's "Wisdom," is a bit more difficult to use. It will be more of a theoretical connection that I make. Thurman discusses the self and what it means to become selfless, to allow your spirit to connect with others. That could be used to address how the struggle faced by women of color is not individual, but faced by that whole race of women. Or, I could connect how deciding whether or not she will report acts of sexual assault is an individual decision, the same way becoming selfless is a process done by the individual self.  Otherwise, I am having a very productive time finding articles that will contribute to my argument. This process has been going very smoothly for me.
